Information for parents
Waiting lists - Where a parent/carer has already applied for a school place this academic year, and has been refused a place, the child will go on to the school’s waiting list automatically and will remain on the waiting list until the end of the summer term. Parents do not need to reapply unless they wish to change their preferences. Parents can check their child’s position on the waiting list when they log into the portal.
Applying for out of county schools - if there are any schools not on the application list, please get in touch with the Schools Admissions team who will arrange for the school to be added.
Apply for a primary school place
Your child is eligible to:
Start primary school in September 2027.
E.G. born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023 inclusive.
Transfer from infant to junior school for the 2027-28 academic year.
E.G. born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 inclusive.

Apply for a secondary school place
Your child is eligible to:
Start secondary school in September 2027.
E.G. born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 inclusive

Apply to move school in year
Your child is eligible if:
Your child is at school and you want to move them to a different school during the year.
Your child is new to North Northamptonshire and does not have a school place.
You have moved house and want to move to a different school.
Applying for an In-Year School Place for September 2026
The School Admissions team will accept and process applications for school places throughout the summer holiday period.
The table below shows the dates that parents will be notified of the outcome of their application.
Applications for a September 2026 start should be completed as soon as possible. A portal account is required to apply for a school place, to create an account click on 'Sign In' and then select 'Create Account'.
